Rosa: A 20-year old Filipina whose book collection far exceeds her shelf space.
She doesn’t have a particular book genre she favors but on the other hand, she doesn’t read too many science-fiction/fantasy books or crime/thrillers. She has a soft spot for chick lit but she is, more often than not, disappointed with the books she reads in that genre (with the exception of Marian Keyes’ and recently, Freya North’s works). A lot of her book purchases were bought for the sole reason that they had pretty covers. Shallow, she knows.
Her favourite authors are Margaret Atwood, Edgar Allan Poe, Neil Gaiman, and Salman Rushdie. Some of her favourite books include The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde), The Handmaid’s Tale (Margaret Atwood), and Haroun and the Sea of Stories (Salman Rushdie).
She likes seeing things go boom in movies (special effects are love!). Fantastic fight scenes (hand-to-hand or otherwise), also make her happy. As does musicals and animated movies. She prefers watching action/thrillers, comedies, and romantic comedies but will dabble in dramas and other serious fare, once in a while.
Her favourite directors are Quentin Tarantino and Kevin Smith. Her favourite movies include Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amelie Poulain, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and The Lion King.
